Hi All,
I am new to cloud computing.
We have a requirement to migrate our asp.net application to SAAS -multi tenant application.
i.e for each user if they register it should create seperate database.
Please provide me very high level steps to start.
checked with google but still not clear.

Hi,
I try to transfer my database from sql server 2008 to sql azure but the all ways failed until this time.
Please help me.. How I can transfer a database (Schema script + Data) from a local sql server 2008 to sql azure.

SqlAzure Migration Wizard[^] is a pretty handy way to do it. You may need to convert your database to SQL 2008 R2 before using it.

Hello, i have been working with C# sockets and servers for quit a while, and now i want to create my server on windows azure but i don't have any knowledge of it so i have the following questions:
1.From where to start?(any good tutorial? with a lot of explanations )
2.Do i need to learn something else, for example "advanced threading" ?

I signed up for the Microsoft Azure 90 Days Introductory Special because my school assignment requires me to use SQL Azure which is only available online(no emulator is available). I got charged for $68 for using 60 million transactions of the Azure Storage in less than 2 weeks. My school assignment is just a fake website for employees to apply for medical leave. Nobody can find this website, using Google or Bing search. And this website only has 3 pages and requires login to do anything. All my classmates did not get charged except me. I want to know if anyone here got a similar experience?
Well, this bad news can be a good thing for me. Because my company is tasking me to evaluate MS Azure: many of our customers are hosting our ASP.NET software themselves, they are asking if we can host it for them so that they can just log in and view the employee attendance. My company sells biometric devices and software. Luckily, I did not yet recommend MS Azure to my company; if the clients found out that they got charged such a big amount for checking employee attendance, I will be asked to leave.

I was damned pissed off when MS says my charges are valid. MS support officer emailed me last Tuesday that she will talk to the Business Desk Team again. Hopefully, my charges will be rolled back.

I had a similiar experience. I registered for the trial, set up all the stuff and few days later I was at 90% of the limit in the number of transactions. Thing is, I only did one thing: upload a .txt file to a blob and that's it. Never used the storage from code or from anywhere else for that matter. Luckily because of this I could just delete the whole storage before any charge would apply. Still, something at MS is definetely not working as it should be.

No you can't. if you want to use .net and test it .its better you use Windows Azure cloud platform.

If you have an MSDN account (Premium or Ultimate) Azure is free (with certain restrictions like CPU size). You do still need to insert credit card details but you won't get charged unless you exceed your limits.
If this isn't an option I seem to remember there be some dev utility that simulates the cloud locally on your workstation. I can't remember the name but it does sound familiar I'm sure a quick google would get you the name.

Yes, EC2 does support .NET, but not on the free tier. The cost can be very low if you only run the server for occasional tests, but is similar to a conventional hosted VM if you need it running all the time.

If you are developing it for your purpose then better test it on your Emulator.
It has no more difference than local and server hosting.
It is very good for developer testing. It works same on Azure even.
If you are developing it for your client better ask him an account.
